Mary Sue
Name: Mary Sue Fureku
Street Name: N/A
Age: 22
Metatytpe: Elf
Team Role: Negotiator, Optimist
Description
Mary Sue(“MS” to her friends) can best be characterized as the most feared-entity in the shadows: A cheerful Johnson. She can near always be found smiling, causing the skin around her blue eyes to crinkle in a way that only accents her complexion and evokes a subtle fear response in those she’s dealing with – mostly in the ‘how much is this one going to cost me’ sense.
She keeps her hair styled in the Approved Corporate Fashion. Her platinum blonde hair is so light to be almost white in color with bangs cut straight and hair worn loose. Set by her desire for a stable, comfortable career as an executive for a medical corporation, Mary Sue’s typical ‘runner outfit’ is a jacket, tie, blouse, skirt, and heels. Such an outfit can almost be considered ‘modest’, though the lift on her heels does add an inch or two to her 1.8 meter tall frame – which can be an important power move.
In the Seattle shadows, Mary Sue is known as an overly optimistic negotiator who can promise satisfactory job completion to specification, and any assumptions on additional objectives are met with hardball dealing at the meeting table. Her ‘Does No Wrong’ attitude and subsequent track record keeps her in work, but Mary Sue’s smugness when she knows she has the upper hand has created some animosity with the team’s primary fixer and Johnson, Morganna LaFey.
Background
Mary Sue is an uncharacteristic ray of sunshine in the overcast city of Seattle. The only child of Kenzo and Emily Fureku, Mary Sue grew up wanting for little and was accustomed to getting her way. She learned from a young age that if she did not get what she wanted immediately, she could negotiate as the apple of her parents’ eye to her future benefit – and so her self-imposed chores were punctuated with praise and a healthy allowance for a precocious child.
Possessing an uncanny and infuriating knack for picking up new skills quickly before growing bored and casting them aside, MS was able to attract many friendly acquaintances in school as her interests waxed and waned during her search for purpose. In the end, she felt she wanted to follow in her parents’ footsteps and begin a career in management with the ultimate goal of becoming an executive for a corporation that perhaps focused on the care and study of cute animals.
She was accepted to the local university on partial scholarship which made her parents happy, and her drive led her to undertake several internships with medical corporations focusing on paranimals and standard medical services. It was one of these internships that took a darker turn after the Human Resources manager at ParaDynamics, a corporation specializing in parazoology, tasked her to build a team from the employee files in order to undertake some less-than-savory duties in order to fast-track the standing requests each had on file.
The consequences of these actions would drive MS into the shadows where a cheery ray of sunshine would have a rude awakening after seeing how the other ninety percent lives.
